Come, Holy Spirit!
... tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit... Acts 2
May 15 is Pentecost Sunday, when we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on Jesus' apostles like tongues of fire. Join us for worship at 10:30 am or 1 pm. If convenient, wear colors of the flame. Like the fruit of the Spirit--love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self control, and many others--the colors of fire are many and varied: red, yellow, orange, blue, white, and so on. We hope to see you on Pentecost or any Sunday!
Since the late 1960s, Broadway has been serving God by actively engaging with and serving our neighbors. Our ministries of hospitality include a food pantry and a breakfast and fellowship time Monday through Thursday mornings -- a place to come in off the street and take a shower, get a fresh set of clothing, do laundry, and receive other assistance. And, on Sundays our congregation -- along with other congregations and groups that support our ministry -- serves Sunday dinner to all who come. For more than 30 years we have together served some 100 people each Sunday.
Broadway offers a regular church program of worship, study, and fellowship, as well as social, emotional, spiritual, and logistical support to those who enter our building on a daily basis for whatever reason. We also provide pastoral care to many who find themselves in jail.
Our Broadway Jubilee Christmas Store provides gifts and Christmas dinners for families in need. And, we offer neighborhood programming, Bible study, reading programs, fellowship, and discussion groups, and other activities throughout the year.
